Summary

New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS) is seeking a full-time infectious diseases Physician. The successful applicant will join a VA-based faculty in Infectious Diseases and is expected to qualify for a faculty position at the University of New Mexico (open rank, open track) in the UNM Division of Infectious Diseases. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Residency Training: Completion of an approved residency program leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residencies include those approved by ACGME, AOA, or other recognized programs with verified practice experience. Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA programs are eligible as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs), who must be fully licensed physicians and can only be appointed intermittently or on a fee basis. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Qualified candidates must be ABIM Board eligible or certified in Internal Medicine. Eligible for a faculty appointment at the University of New Mexico based on qualifications and experience. Physical Requirements:

Join a VA-based faculty in Infectious Diseases and qualify for a faculty position at UNM. Evaluate and treat patients with various infectious diseases via inpatient and outpatient services. Provide attending physician coverage for residents and students. Participate in inpatient consultations, outpatient clinics, including HIV primary care and outpatient parenteral antibiotic clinics. Support the facility's antimicrobial stewardship program. Participate in VA ID Section activities, including committees and peer review. Work Schedule: 8:00AM-4:30PM (to be discussed with supervisor).
