Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is seeking Registered Nurses to join our Magnet-designated nursing team in a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary intensive care unit. We have opportunities for RNs to work on an innovative, new, state-of-the-art Acute Psychiatric Service (APS) located within the Emergency Department of MGH. The 20-bed acute psychiatry unit cares for adult and pediatric behavioral patients; many with medical co-morbidities. This dedicated behavioral health unit provides milieu therapy with a team approach including nurses, psychiatric providers, mental health workers, PCAs, social workers and occupational therapists. A multi-disciplinary team approach focuses on the psychosocial and emotional support of patients and their families. We work daily to provide excellent, high-quality care to patients supported by a highly skilled and compassionate team in the safest environment. Responsibilities
Provide psychiatric nursing care on the Acute Psychiatric Service unit within the Emergency Department, focusing on safety, assessment, and patient-centered care.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatric providers, mental health workers, PCAs, social workers, and occupational therapists to deliver holistic care.
Contribute to milieu therapy and support the psychosocial and emotional needs of patients and families.
Ensure a secure environment and participate in rounds, care planning, and documentation in accordance with hospital policies.
Qualifications
BSN preferred.
1 year of RN experience in any specialty required; psychiatric or emergency department experience preferred.
BLS or ACLS required within 30 days of hire.
