Travel ICU RN Job Details
- Location: Decatur, Illinois 62526
- Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Hospital, Level II Trauma Center
- Unit: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – 20 beds
- Employment Type: Travel Nurse (locum tenens)
- Start Date: September 15, 2025
- End Date: December 15, 2025
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shifts, 4x12-hour (18:00 - 06:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2000-$2050
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Charting System: Cerner
- Scrub Color: Royal blue
- Parking: Free with permit
ICU RN Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (required at time of application)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA or Red Cross only)
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia management
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central/PICC line care, and IV starts
- Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
- Pre/post cardiac cath/intervention and renal failure management experience
- Ability to float within scope to support hospital needs
- Availability to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during assignment
ICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care to adults in the ICU, including those with cardiac, respiratory, and renal conditions
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and perform 12-lead EKGs
- Provide pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac catheterizations and interventions
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, emergency medications, and continuous IV sedation
- Manage ventilated patients and assist with respiratory therapies (BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC)
- Perform arterial and central line management, blood product administration, and wound care
- Respond to code blue and rapid response situations
- Maintain infection prevention and isolation protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, and pharmacy
- Float to other nursing units as needed to support hospital operations
