Position: Travel ER RN

Location: Facility in Waimea, Hawaii

Role: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)

Facility type: Emergency department; 10-week travel assignment

Summary: The ER RN delivers rapid-response, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. Responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, implementing urgent care plans, administering treatments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Rapidly assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing care based on severity
• Explain emergency procedures and treatments to patients and families
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to emergency nursing protocols
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during emergency treatments and examinations
• Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout the ED
• Observe and document patient conditions within scope of practice
• Take and monitor vital signs and respond to deviations
• Respond to life-saving situations according to standards, policies, and protocols
• Document nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in EMR
• Initiate patient education plans as needed in acute care
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, paramedics, social workers and other staff
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols and regulatory standards
• Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice

Required Qualifications

• One year of recent ER RN experience
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• Current PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• TNCC, NIHSS, CPI, NRP and SANE certifications
• Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position

Required Essential Skills

• Critical thinking and strong interpersonal communication
• English proficiency (read, write, speak)
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions; PC skills
• Physical ability to lift/move equipment (50-100 lbs) and mobility requirements
• Ability to work effectively with diverse teams
• Technical/motor skills for assisting procedures and operating department equipment
• Ability to handle deadlines and work under pressure
• Visual acuity and effective communication abilities
