Oncology RN Job Details

• Location: Goldsboro, NC 27534
• Healthcare Setting: 4th Floor Oncology Unit (19 beds, daily census ~16)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens / Travel RN contract
• Start Date: October 13, 2025
• End Date: January 12, 2026
• Duration: 13-week travel nursing assignment
• Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 per week; every other weekend/holiday required
• On-call: May be placed on-call for one 12-hour shift per pay period
• Orientation: 34 hours
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1,820 – $1,950

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license (North Carolina or compact state)
• Minimum 3 years of recent oncology nursing experience
• Prior charge nurse experience in an oncology or medical-surgical setting
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records (EHR) system
• OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) and/or Chemo Immunotherapy certification preferred
• Ability to float to units of similar or lower acuity as needed
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (no exemptions)

Oncology RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to oncology and medical-surgical patients, including end-of-life care
• Serve as charge nurse during assigned shifts, managing patient care and staff workflow
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood products per protocols
• Monitor and manage central lines, ports, and PICC lines
• Implement neutropenic and isolation precautions as required
• Educate and support patients and families throughout cancer treatment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, rapid response)
• Accurately document patient care using Epic EHR
• Participate in block scheduling and on-call rotations
• Ensure compliance with all hospital and healthcare policies
