Neuro ICU RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nurse contract)
• Location: Wausau, Wisconsin (54401) – Wisconsin nursing jobs
• Unit: Neuro Intensive Care Unit (8-bed Neuro ICU)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 20, 2025
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2100 - $2250
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour variable shifts (day/night), 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend and holiday
• Float Requirements: May float between Neuro Critical Care ICU, MSICU, and other critical care units

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience (Neuro ICU or Med/Surg ICU)
• At least 1 prior travel nurse assignment preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Strong neuro assessment and critical care skills
• Experience with EPIC charting system required
• Familiarity with EVDs and ICP monitoring preferred
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing required

Neuro ICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to neurocritical care patients (stroke, TBI, head injury, neurosurgery)
• Perform comprehensive neuro assessments and bedside ICU procedures (line placement, intubation)
• Assist neurosurgery with neuro-specific procedures such as bolt and drain placements
• Monitor and manage patients with EVDs and ICP devices
• Float to other critical care units (MSICU, Neuro Critical Care ICU) as needed
• Demonstrate adaptability, resilience, and strong independent management skills
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
