Position Summary

We are seeking a Dental Assistant - Prosth. The Prosthodontist Dental Assistant works under a dentist’s supervision to prepare equipment for dentistry procedures, ready patients for these procedures, and assist the dentist by passing instruments, holding suction, and anticipating the dentist’s needs. Responsibilities may include removing sutures, processing X-rays, and taking oral impressions used to fit crowns.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct supervision of the Prosthodontist
• Provide chair-side assistance while dentists examine and treat patients
• Ensure patient comfort, prepare patients for treatment, and obtain dental records
• Hand instruments and materials to dentists and maintain a dry, clear mouth using suction or other devices
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments, prepare trays, and instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care
• Prepare materials for impressions and restorations, take dental X-rays, and process X-ray film as directed
• Handle radiological equipment and assist patients as directed by a dentist
• Perform office duties such as scheduling, patient reception, record-keeping, billing, payments, and ordering supplies
• Assist in specialty areas including oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics, and dental implantology
• Support and assist the hygienist, including tray cleaning, room setup, and cleanup
• Track inventory of prosthetic supplies and organize storage areas
• Support radiographic needs of Patient Education Consultants, Oral Surgeon, and Hygienists

Working Conditions

• Well-lighted, clean environment near the dental chair
• Protection protocols with gloves, masks, eyewear, and protective clothing to prevent infection
• Follow safety procedures for the use of X-ray machines

Experience

• Certified as a Dental Assistant by the ADA
• Two years of Dental Assistant experience
• Dental implant experience preferred
• Reliable, able to work well in a fast-paced environment, with good manual dexterity
• Current CPR certification

Physical Requirements

• Regularly work in an office environment; may walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds; stand for extended periods
• Fine motor skills and coordination to manipulate small objects and instruments

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated compensation range is $23.00 - $28.00 per hour.
