We are seeking a Maintenance Technician, 3rd shift to join our Eden Prairie team. This position ensures that Production Equipment is maintained in a way that maximizes production line uptime.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to maintenance requests and conduct routine maintenance so that production equipment reliably achieves production goals.
  • Conduct changeovers and equipment start-ups in a minimal amount of time to meet or exceed production standards.
  • Test equipment after repairs, changeovers, or extended downtime to ensure it is ready to run without downtime at start-ups.
  • Minimize stop-gap measures and maintain lines and equipment operation.
  • Order parts as needed to minimize emergency maintenance and request work orders to ensure equipment uptime.
  • Measure downtime and de-brief others to improve future outcomes; production is the main internal customer of maintenance.
  • Accomplish preventive maintenance (PM) and practice Continuous Improvement to ensure production goals are met.
  • Execute PM tasks on schedule and follow through on PM findings to improve equipment reliability; contribute knowledge to the PM planning process.
  • Ensure schedule changes, material availability, and line operations do not prevent PM completion; work to improve equipment design to maximize throughput while reducing non-value added labor.
  • Administer the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring system reliability and accuracy (enter completed work orders, sign parts to work orders, restock parts, and other CMMS duties).
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and upkeep of equipment and maintenance areas; administer lock-out tag-out (LOTO) and follow GMP rules; keep work areas clean and organized; identify and correct safety issues for the benefit of all employees.
  • Understand and maintain a culture of lean action within the department; implement and maintain standards and processes that eliminate waste and apply lean tools; institutionalize 5-S across the department.
  • Perform other work as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment required. A high school diploma (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Prefer applicants with 2 or more years of formal packaging or industrial training.
  • Ability to multitask, demonstrate urgency, and organize; knowledge of procedures, processes, and Good Manufacturing Practices. Technical schooling or degree and/or equivalent experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Class C Boiler license is preferred but not required.

Work and Physical Requirements

  • Position may require significant hours beyond the normal workday based on business demands; moderate to high deadlines; cyclic work with varying workflow; no required overnight or day travel.
  • Physical demands include continuous bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting, and grasping (6+ hours/day); standing and walking (6+ hours/day); talking, repetitive motion, and hand/wrist movement (6+ hours/day); occasional computer work (up to 2 hours/day).
  • Sensory requirements: good eyesight, normal hearing, and fluency in English.

Working Conditions

  • Indoors with seasonal heat and humidity; exposure to fragrances at times; moving and lifting objects up to 50 lbs frequently.

  • Hourly base wage of $29.00 - $32.00, with $1.00/hour shift differential, DOE.
