Overview
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist runs the daily functions of the Human Resource department. The HR Generalist provides support for the administration of human resources policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Generalist responsibilities consist of the following functional areas: Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organizational development, and employment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates in the development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the company's strategic goals.
- Partners with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
- Maintains compliance with governmental and labor legal requirements, including EEO, ADA, ACA, FMLA, ERISA, Department of Labor, workers compensation, OSHA, and related reporting.
- Manage and collaborate with department managers to understand skills and competencies for open positions. Manage onboarding through the new hire process, including post-onboarding tasks. Coordinate and present new hire orientation.
- Oversee and maintain HRIS, including creation and distribution of project initiatives.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of employee changes in HRIS (status changes, terminations, etc.).
- Maintain employee databases. Prepare and analyze reports for department and company needs; provide periodic reports to management.
- Manage benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, payroll deductions, wellness initiatives, and monthly invoice reviews.
- Design and implement performance appraisal, performance discussions, and personnel action forms; maintain documentation in employee files.
- Support managers and employees with performance-related issues, including discipline documentation and performance improvement plans (PIP) and training on HRIS input.
- Recommend employee relations practices to foster a positive employer/employee relationship and promote morale.
- Create company-wide surveys for insights on benefits, engagement, and feedback.
- Develop Employee Recognition Programs, manage continuation procedures, and oversee delivery of awards and related communications.
- Lead the Engagement Committee to improve employee morale and engagement.
- Partner with payroll for processing and provide backup documentation for earnings related to HR.
- Serve as a point of contact for employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees; escalate complex matters to appropriate staff.
- Review, track, and document mandatory and non-mandatory training (e.g., anti-harassment, safety, and annual training).
- Participate in HR staff meetings and other meetings or seminars; maintain employee files and manage file disposition as needed.
- Create content and manage the HR Intranet Page.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Physical Demands
- Sit for extended periods; walk, stand, bend, squat, twist, and reach.
- Simple grasping and fine manipulation; extended keyboarding.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2-4 years of related experience.
- Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office Suite, and related tools.
- High level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong internal customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to deal with interruptions, changing priorities, and deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Requirements
- Degree or certification in Human Resources or related field.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred, not required.
- Understanding of HR functions and best practices.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
