Buyer

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services required by the organization. This role ensures timely procurement of quality products at competitive prices while maintaining optimal inventory levels and fostering strong vendor relationships. This is a Contract to Hire opportunity located near Vernon Hills, IL.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase inventory and maintain stock levels to meet current and future order requirements. Execute Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and manage ERP systems. Monitor and optimize inventory turnover, fill rates, and lead times. Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors. Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and payment conditions to ensure cost-effective procurement. Review and process purchase orders ensuring accuracy in pricing, delivery dates, and terms. Maintain records of purchases, delivery schedules, and supplier performance. Stay informed about market trends and pricing conditions. Analyze vendor quotations and prepare market analysis reports. Work with internal teams including finance, operations, and product development to align procurement with business goals. Support merchandising and marketing initiatives when applicable. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in a buying or procurement role. Strong analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and ERP/MRP systems (Epicor, Plex, etc.). Experience in manufacturing or retail environments is a plus. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and communication skills. Familiarity with vendor compliance, rebate forecasting, and cost-saving strategies.

Job Details:

Contract to Hire 100% onsite Pay is $30-$40 an hour, depending on experience
