Join our mission to continuously move science forward; to innovate and advance all aspects of our business to improve the health and safety of our communities and lives. *Description:* Join us as a GxP Water sampling Specialist, where you’ll put your love of science to work in the Scientific Insourcing Solutions division. In this role you will oversee operations of a drinking water lab including coordinating ordering, equipment maintenance, QC checks, training, and sharing report results to the state or EPA. *NOTE: Position is expected to last 6 months with a possible extension for 1 year* *NOTE: Position is located in Abingdon, V*A *Responsibilities:* * Oversee daily operations of the drinking water laboratory to ensure timely and accurate sample analysis. * Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local drinking water regulations (e.g., EPA…) * Ensure all laboratory procedures follow approved methods and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) protocols. * Conduct routine and special drinking water sampling from distribution systems, treatment facilities, and source waters. * Ensure proper sample preservation, labeling, and chain-of-custody documentation to maintain sample integrity. * Review field data and sampling logs for completeness and accuracy prior to laboratory analysis. * Manage inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment; coordinate maintenance and calibration schedules. * Develop and update SOPs, training materials, and documentation to support continuous improvement. * Monitor laboratory performance metrics and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and quality. * Coordinate samples with third party labs * Ensuring all lab personnel have demonstrated the ability to perform the analyses to which they are assigned * Track and document employee experience as it relates to quality requirements including resume, job description, certifications, and training records * Assist with emergency or complaint-based sampling events, including rapid response to potential contamination incidents. * Other duties as assigned *Requirements:* * At least a bachelor's degree with a major in chemistry, microbiology, biology, or equivalent, and at least one year of experience in the analysis of drinking water * If degree is in a subject other than microbiology, have at least one college level laboratory course in microbiology. * Training in microbiological analysis, specifically ColiSure (coliform) testing for drinking water. * Two weeks training at a Federal or State agency or academic institution in microbiological analysis of drinking water * Or 80 hours of on-the-job training in water microbiology at a certified laboratory. * Or 3 months of bench experience in water, milk or food microbiology * Lab management experience for small micro/chem lab experience. * Working knowledge of quality assurance principles Find Your Place at Pace - We need you - your curiosity, your talents, and your drive - to help us advance this important work.
