The Department of Community Services (DCS) is seeking a **Program Communications Coordinator** to lead the communications for our diverse department. This key role is responsible for working collaboratively with staff in the DCS Director’s Office and its four divisions to develop and implement internal and external communication strategies using web-based applications and other media/digital publishing tools. If you have a passion for creating impactful communication strategies, we encourage you to apply!* Develop program communications plans, strategies and materials.* Plan, lead, and coordinate culturally relevant communications projects and procedures, including functions and steps to manage organizational change and communications, and information flow.* Evaluate and select appropriate media and communication style for target audiences.* Design and develop materials for internal and/or external distribution such as documents, policies, procedures, fact sheets, posters, flyers, electronic graphics, slide decks, social media content, and videos.* Ensure compliance with Title VI.* Coordinate with County Offices to represent the Division and share information with the public, stakeholders, and the media.* Develop and coordinate responsive communications strategies.* Select appropriate media and communicate to target audience or general audience through press releases, web communication, video and other material.* Support responses to media, citizen and community group inquiries.* Research and propose new initiatives which could improve department or division communications.* Evaluate or assist in evaluating communications' effectiveness, publishing tools and web traffic.* Establish and document standard communications procedures.Our department’s mission is to preserve harmony between natural and built environments, keep people and pets safe, and ensure every voice is heard through a diverse group of programs including transportation, land use planning, animal services, elections, and budget and operations support. Find more details .**Education/Training:** A Bachelor's degree in communications, computer science or computer engineering, graphic design, web development/design, marketing, journalism or a related field (in lieu of a degree, we will consider equivalent years of experience); **AND****Experience:** Three (3) years of responsible experience in web communications/design, news reporting, public information, public relations, marketing communications or publication development**Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills:** You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify.
