Senior Cost Accountant

Position Overview
The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for managing and analyzing cost data to support financial decision-making and enhance operational efficiency. This role involves collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate cost reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, while maintaining compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare monthly cost reports.
- Perform variance analysis to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Facilitate the budgeting process by providing accurate cost forecasts and financial analyses.
- Support inventory management and ensure accurate inventory valuation.
- Prepare journal entries related to costing and profit eliminations.
- Assist in month-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Collaborate with auditing teams to ensure adherence to GAAP and internal controls.
- Utilize ERP systems such as Epicore for cost management and reporting.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of cost accounting processes and practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly Epicore, and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Solid understanding of inventory management and job costing principles.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
