Requirements:
Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree in Education and/or Special Education; Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years in K-5 classroom teaching experience.
Other Requirements:
Valid North Dakota Teaching License and Elementary Principal’s Credential.
Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act [IDEA].
Demonstrated experience in personnel supervision and evaluation; educational assessment; educational planning; resource management; participative management; communication skills; effective teaching and learning strategies; educational research; leadership development; culture-based curriculum; school climate development; educational transformation and restructuring; and other relevant competencies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Skills in human relations, leadership, and conflict management.
Valid Driver’s License.
Pass a background check in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, Public Law 101-630, and a pre-employment Drug Test.
Indian and Veteran’s Preference considered.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
This position oversees the K-6 instructional/learning program at Standing Rock Community School, including supplementary educational programs and services to meet the holistic needs of students.
Develop and monitor student progress using performance-based and authentic assessment methods.
Conduct staff meetings to promote participatory planning, development, and school improvement activities including curriculum, assessment, extra-curricular activities, research, staff performance, and other participative processes.
Monitor learning activities to ensure alignment with established Student Outcomes appropriate for each age and developmental level.
Implement regular classroom observations to support teacher development.
Maintain comprehensive student records including attendance, academic achievement, evaluations, enrollment, and other required documentation.
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and school policies.
Administer student rights and responsibilities fairly, as outlined in the student handbook.
Foster parental involvement and partnership in education.
Develop and monitor operational processes for school programs and policies.
Identify and procure resources to enhance the K-6 learning environment.
Participate in professional development activities.
Perform duties in accordance with SRCGS Policies and Procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
