Senior Technical Director, Project Management

WSP is currently initiating a search for a part-time Senior Technical Director, Project Management position to join our dynamic team in New York City, New York office. Your impact includes providing leadership, definition, and oversight pertaining to the delivery of large-scale, highly complex bus project management work within a sector or national business line, ensuring QA/QC practices align with corporate strategy, performance, and risk objectives. Serve as a Project Management subject matter expert and champion for corporate compliance with internal project management standards, addressing current and future project management challenges within a large, multi-faceted organization. Collaborate with a team of senior managers and engineers on tasks to analyze and modify bus fleets in the Northeast area. Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on many bus projects within WSP as well as other firms as needed. Your Responsibilities

Lead the most complex and largest-scale projects within the organization, overseeing budgets, forecasts, margins, KPIs, risk contingencies, hours, expenses, QA/QC, and contractual obligations to deliver the project or portfolio. Foster proactive strategies to engage project stakeholders at all levels, maintain relationships, and report on project progress. Provide guidance and leadership with pursuit/initiation activities for projects meeting defined criteria or risk profile, including Go/No-Go decisions, contract reviews, risk mitigation, and pricing reviews. Participate in technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings. Be accountable for the profitable performance and successful completion of all projects within the specified area or portfolio. Provide leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute high-level strategic advice to clients. Provide performance guidance to assigned managers and staff. Ensure updates to system and process documentation including Risk (REF/RMP), Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Quality Plan (QP), Project Safety (PSP), and Communications Plan where applicable. Lead problem project and project management discipline meetings, address root causes, and drive improvements in area of responsibility. Lead development of project recovery plans with input for correcting budget and overrun issues with the client. Ensure regular project reporting to clients and internal stakeholders, identifying emergent issues with scope, risk, or budget. Complete formal project closeout activities and conduct lessons-learned meetings with key staff. Stay current in Project Management techniques and practices (PMAP). Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to provide trusted-advisor service and future-ready solutions for clients. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm. 15+ years of relevant post-education experience in a project management role within the industry. Advanced understanding of the project delivery process within the A/E/C industry, with extensive experience in large-scale project management. Advanced knowledge and proficiency with analytical and organizational skills, and business acumen to bridge business and project management. Strong working knowledge of corporate project management principles, practices, processes, delivery, execution, and business impact. Strong bus knowledge and understanding of bus depot operations and senior-level management practices in facilities with a large operating fleet and multiple vendors. Proven ability to establish, implement, and manage multiple large-scale projects, programs, documents, systems, and practices. Excellent self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills to manage staff and interact with employees at all levels. Strategic thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization under pressure. Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, clients, and staff. Advanced knowledge of technical writing, MS Office and PM tools (Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint). Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and harassment policies. Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and hours to meet business needs. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications

Project management certification (e.g., PMP, CAP-M) is a plus. Compensation and Benefits

WSP provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement savings, paid sick leave, paid vacation or personal time, paid parental leave, and paid time off for bereavement, voting, and naturalization proceedings. Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $162,400.00 - $310,860.00. WSP USA reserves the right to offer a different compensation package based on experience and location.
