Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to develop, plan, and administer total force recruitment plans, procedures, actions, and promotions associated with the criminal investigative career field at a field operating agency (FOA).

Duties

  • Serves as a senior advisor to the Chief, AFOSI Recruiting and Applicant Processing Division on all aspects of total force (enlisted) recruiting, total force special agent applicant processing, and special agent initial skills training for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI).
  • Reviews, evaluates, and advises management on the Internal Criminal Investigator Promotion Selection Process (PSP).
  • Provides advisory services and direction to management and leadership on Recruiting Programs throughout AFOSI ensuring the operational needs are met command wide.
  • Represents the Field Operating Agency (FOA) with a variety of functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships throughout the command and representatives from other military criminal investigative organizations, and related civilian law enforcement organizations regarding services provided.

  • Testing Designated Position (TDP) designation under Air Force Civilian Testing Program
  • Potential drug testing requirements due to TDP
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned
  • Internal background investigation by AFOSI and approval for duty by AFOSI Commander or designee
  • Limited area of consideration to Command-Wide SAF/AF Internal or AF DCIPS Candidates; applicant must be a current SAF employee
  • This is a centrally managed position

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples include: advising in a law enforcement or recruitment context, developing solutions to complex problems, and applying advanced recruitment and retention HRM principles.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level.

KSAs: Qualifications evaluated on knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of recruitment principles and organizational structure.
  2. Knowledge of civilian and military personnel recruitment laws and practices.
  3. Analytical and evaluative methods for information assessment and problem solving.
  4. Ability to advise management on complex recruitment issues.
  5. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to conduct in-depth research and use analytical methods for complex recruitment problems.

TIME-RELATED REQUIREMENTS: Credit given for appropriate unpaid/part-time work. Include duties and hours per week.
