Overview
The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the authenticity of Palm Beach's iconic architecture, culture, and botanicals, is seeking an Accountant to oversee all financial duties of the organization. The Accountant will report to the President & CEO, provide regular financial reporting, and work with staff and board. This is a part-time role, up to 30 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Manage all financial duties of PFPB, including but not limited to: annual budgeting process, cash flow monitoring, bank accounts, monthly close and budget-to-actual reports, board reporting, and HR-related financial tasks (payroll, 403B, insurance).
- Process accounts payable, track grant reimbursable expenditures, and ensure accuracy and proper classification.
- Track expenditures for projects (e.g., Phipps Ocean Park) in partnership with the Town of Palm Beach and Zubatkin.
- Reconcile monthly credit card statements and monitor receivables.
- Ensure bi-monthly payroll runs through Gusto and allocate employee costs to grants or program activities as needed.
- Reconcile contributions in Bloomerang to the general ledger; set up and maintain financial websites/apps (e.g., Bill.com, Gusto).
- Reconcile bank and investment accounts; manage fixed assets paperwork.
- Prepare special financial reports for department leaders and summarize account information and trends.
- Prepare and distribute daily “Money Log” for department leaders; prepare budgets for grant applications or advancement proposals.
- Lead the organization’s annual audit and prepare and submit 990s and other filings; maintain tax and business filings with Town and state.
- Log Shopify sales and reconcile with PayPal; assist with other financial issues as needed (insurance, petty cash, deposits).
- Assist in financial aspects of the transition from Raiser’s Edge to Bloomerang (fall 2025) and report to the Executive Committee and full board as needed.
Qualifications
Four years of relevant experience and a degree in accounting. Nonprofit experience preferred. Proficiency with QuickBooks Online. Enthusiasm for the mission of the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach is required.
Schedule and Compensation
This position is part-time or contract, not to exceed 30 hours per week. In-office hours are expected a few hours three days a week; remaining work may be remote. Some after-hours event coverage may be required.
Base pay for this role is $70,000, with higher compensation considered based on experience. This role does not offer employee benefits.
