About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty, with 1 travel contract License: Active Nursing License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM Intermediate or above for Labor & Delivery; Nursery requires BLS, NRP, and Stable Must-Have: - Minimum 2 years in specialty - Experience circulating for C-sections - Ability to float to NICU if experienced Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery. The unit consists of LDRP beds and has a Level 2 NICU. There are 10 LDRP beds and 4 triage beds available. The average birth rate is approximately 30-60 births per month. The nursery census typically reflects this birth rate. Nurses on this unit follow ACOG guidelines for staffing ratios. Charting will be done using MEDITECH - 6.1. C-section experience is required, and nurses will be expected to circulate during these procedures. There is a charge nurse on duty who also takes patients, primarily postpartum. The weekend requirement is every other weekend, and holidays are rotated with permanent staff. Scrub colors include forest green pants and white tops, which are not provided by the facility. In-house anesthesia is only available for specific cases. The pharmacy is not in-house 24/7 but has an on-call pharmacist available. Common patient diagnoses include those 32 weeks or greater if there are no other maternal risk factors. Mothers with certain underlying health conditions may be transferred to another facility.
