About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Family Birthing Center (Labor and Delivery & Mother Baby) Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Must-Have: Must be able to circulate C-sections Description: Unit consists of 13 Labor and Delivery beds and 9 Mother Baby beds with 2 operating room suites. The nurse to patient ratios are 1:2 for Labor and 1:4 for Mother Baby. The Electronic Medical Record system used is Cerner. Nurses may serve as charge nurses and take patients as necessary. Nurse aides are not utilized on this unit. There is a weekend requirement of every third day for days and every other weekend for nights. Holidays will rotate with core staff. Scrub color is provided. Telemetry and vent management are not available on this unit. OB physicians and anesthesia providers are available in-house 24/7. An IV team is available if necessary. Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services are also available 24/7. There is no call requirement for traveling nurses. Shifts run from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM with extra shifts available. Traveling nurses will float first, with potential floating to Mother Baby or level 1 nursery if they possess relevant experience. Floor-specific orientation duration will vary based on skill set. Common diagnoses include standard labor and high-risk pregnancies. Triage of OB patients occurs for those 20 weeks or greater, while patients less than 20 weeks are evaluated in the emergency room. The unit experiences 90-100 births per month. COVID-19 vaccination and declination requirements apply as outlined. The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts within a 13-week assignment. Charting is performed in Cerner. A BSN is not required for this position. This role operates in an acute care setting.
