ABOUT THE LABOR & DELIVERY DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER - BRIGHTON:
Registered Nurses in Labor and Delivery provide the highest quality of care to our diverse patient population. Our L&D team has a strong quality improvement focus and our nurses are always developing unique solutions for their patients.
Responsibilities
Deliver exceptional nursing care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
Update and manage patient records
Enter and interpret computerized data/information
Follow guidelines and policies established by SEMC's nursing organization
Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
Qualifications
Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
Certification in basic life support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification required within 90 days of hire (offered during orientation)
Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Intermediate or Advanced Certification required within 8 weeks of hire.
1 year experience Labor and Delivery required
Experience with electronic health record preferred
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
Basic computer proficiency
Fluency in another language a plus
