Associate Consultant – Communications: Assembly Republican Caucus
The Assembly Republican Caucus is seeking a full-time Associate Consultant – Communications to provide direct support for the Caucus’s video and digital media operation. The top priority for this role is capturing and editing video content for use across Caucus communications platforms. This Capitol-based position is also responsible for managing day-to-day social media publishing and assisting with photography, digital formatting, and message delivery. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in live video capture, basic editing, and fast-turnaround content workflows. Primary Responsibilities:
Film, edit, and produce video content for social media, press events, and Caucus messaging Support photography needs at press conferences, hearings, Capitol events, and Member media opportunities Post and schedule content across all official Caucus accounts (X, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, YouTube) Prepare short-form clips and reels for use in social media Coordinate with designers to ensure video and photo content matches branding and platform requirements Monitor news coverage to identify stories and headlines that support Caucus messaging themes Assist with livestreams and setup for Facebook/Instagram Live events Assist with caucus press/media events and internal communications as needed Required Qualifications:
Experience filming and editing live events using DSLR or mirrorless cameras Basic proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, CapCut, etc.) Familiarity with platform-specific formats for reels, shorts, and livestreams Ability to manage and publish content using Meta Business Suite or similar tools Strong writing skills for captions, posts, and short-form messaging Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva Exceptional attention to detail and file organization Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with California State Capitol workflows and press operations Knowledge of content formatting for HTML emails, eBlasts, and newsletters Ability to adapt tone, language, and visuals to public-facing messaging strategy Location & Schedule:
This is a full-time, in-person position located at the California State Capitol in Sacramento. Extended hours may be required during floor sessions, press events, or holiday content pushes. Compensation:
Salary Range: $5,417/month - $7,845/month Position is expected to be filled near the beginning of the range. Includes full California State Assembly benefits. Contact:
