The position of Physician Assistant in the Department of Surgery requires a highly competent, independent yet team-oriented individual who will be immersed in the management and coordination of all inpatient care of surgical patients, primarily located at a new hospital in Irvine, California.

Responsibilities include:

• Evaluating care, ordering diagnostics and creating a treatment plan
• Participating with inpatient sign out/hand-off at beginning and end of shift
• Rounding and communicating with the surgery teams/residents/attending physicians
• Surgical consultations on potential surgical patients
• Coordination of procedures and follow-up, admit and discharge patients
• Triage phone calls from patients and nurses and reviewing critical labs

Requirements:

• Must be a current, active, and unrestricted licensed Physician Assistant in the State of California
• Active Board Certification from NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI) number
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
