Job Summary The Finance Ambassador is a vital member of the Housing and Residential Experience (HRE) team, serving as the first point of contact and representative of the Housing Finance Office. This role provides front-line service and support to current residential students, families, visitors, and members of the broader community. As part of the Finance team, the student assistant collaborates with staff to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of services and information. Responsibilities include assisting with daily administrative tasks, responding to inquiries, and offering excellent customer service—particularly regarding housing payments and related concerns.
The Finance Ambassador is responsible for:
Respond to inquiries via the departmental phone line and online help desk chat.
Assist with general office duties, including organizing supplies, managing mail, and maintaining a clean and functional workspace.
Provide clerical support to office staff by maintaining files, creating documents, entering data, making phone calls, and more.
Housing Finance Assistants (HFAs) are expected to be proficient in using departmental databases and systems to answer questions and support residents.
Perform routine clerical tasks such as filing, copying, and scanning documents.
Complete special projects and assignments as directed by Housing Finance professional staff.

Desired Qualifications
A current student pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate students must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application and maintain a 2.5 cumulative and semester GPA for the duration of their employment. Graduate students must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the time of application and maintain a 3.0 cumulative and semester GPA for the duration of their employment. Grade checks will be completed at the end of every semester.
Must be registered for at least six (6) credit hours as an undergraduate student or three (3) credit hours as a graduate student.
Must be and remain in good standing with the Department and University, including no significant or recent student conduct history. All Housing Student Assistants will consent to conduct checks prior to hiring and at the end of every semester.
Prior to employment, must successfully complete a background check and fingerprinting as per the Housing and Residential Experience requirement.
Who May Apply
Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.
Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.

Advertised Salary $15.50/Hour
