Overview
The City of Ontario is seeking a Deputy Finance Director who will play a vital leadership role in advancing the City’s financial operations and ensuring long-term fiscal stability. With an operating budget of $1.65 billion and a $2.88 billion five-year capital improvement program, the Deputy Finance Director will balance technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills. As a member of the Agency’s management team, the Deputy Director will oversee key operational functions, including accounting, accounts payable, grant management, payroll, and other Finance divisions, under the administrative direction of the Assistant Finance Director and Executive Director of Finance. The ideal candidate will be approachable, flexible, and solutions oriented; someone who can pivot to meet emerging challenges while keeping the City’s long-term financial health in focus. This leader will have the opportunity to strengthen succession planning, serve as a mentor and coach to early-career finance professionals, invest in the growth of their team, and help other City departments better understand financial processes. As a key strategic partner across the organization, the Deputy Finance Director will cultivate strong relations, demonstrate impactful leadership, and drive meaningful results to fuel the growth of the City of Ontario. Annual Salary:
