Overview
Manager, Gas Restoration (Eastern MA) at Eversource Energy. Essential Functions
Supervise daily operations related to gas restoration, including scheduling, dispatching, and field crew management. Manage, train, and develop a team of gas restoration supervisors, paving coordinators, and support staff. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Communicate with customers, municipalities, emergency responders, and regulatory agencies during restoration events. Develop and maintain emergency response and restoration plans. Analyze restoration data and prepare reports on performance, compliance, and improvement opportunities. Manage budgets and resource allocation for restoration operations. Core Tasks Lead and manage gas restoration work. Direct field crews during restoration activities. Ensure proper deployment of personnel, equipment, and materials. Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to meet safety and restoration goals. Enforce adherence to OSHA, DOT, DPU, and company safety standards. Conduct safety audits and incident investigations. Serve as the primary point of contact for internal departments, customers, and external agencies during restoration events. Develop and maintain gas restoration plans and procedures. Track restoration metrics (e.g. duration, customer impact). Oversee procurement and maintenance of restoration tools and equipment. Manage performance by reviewing and evaluating work of employees. Identify, build consensus and communicate performance measures and expected performance levels. Ensure compliance with Company work rules and procedures. Understand and comply with the labor contract, resolve initial grievances, and initiate disciplinary action when required. Develop and maintain relationships with Operations, Engineering and Integration management and users of the solutions to ensure systems and processes function as designed. Improve processes and streamline business operations and practices while maintaining reports and metrics for the department. Ensure 100% compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures. Develop and implement process improvements to provide effective and efficient operations. Safety & Compliance Management (with DPU Integration)
Ensure full compliance with Massachusetts DPU regulations, including 220 CMR 101.00, and federal pipeline safety standards (49 CFR Part 192). Adhere to D.T.E. 98-22 state-specific requirements. Oversee contractor compliance with DPU oversight rules, including qualifications, training, and performance monitoring. Ensure all restoration activities align with the Massachusetts Gas Distribution Code and prepare for and respond to DPU audits, inspections, and incident investigations with complete and accurate records. Maintain a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound workplace; conduct monthly safety meetings and ensure related standards, rules and laws are understood and followed. Maintain familiarity with federal, state and Company codes and standards to ensure regulatory compliance. Qualifications
Technical Knowledge/Skill: Demonstrated leadership capabilities involving managing groups, motivating employees, and creating a sense of teamwork. Ability to lead and communicate with employees in an honest, fair, and timely manner using sound judgment. Manage department personnel development, training, and performance management. Resolve employee concerns in a competent, respectful manner and foster a Safety Conscious Work Environment. Education: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Master’s degree desirable. Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of electric and/or gas utility or related experience required. Five (5) years in a management/leadership capacity highly desirable. Licenses & Certifications: Valid Motor Vehicle Operator license required. Required to obtain and maintain Operator Qualifications. Working Conditions
Available for emergency restoration assignments as required. Willing to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary. Compensation and Benefits
Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for a potential incentive. The annual salary range is $141,800.00-$157,550.00. Additional Details
