As Fort Worth has grown to the 12th largest city in the nation, so has the need for the Food Bank, with more than 500,000 people, 1 in 6 adults, and 1 in 4 children, across its 13-county service area struggling with hunger and food insecurity. Children that do not receive sufficient food and nutrition have behavioral issues, are sick more often, and fall behind in school. Tarrant Area Food Bank has grown to meet this need and is the largest non-healthcare, non-education, non-profit in Tarrant County. The food bank distributes 60 million nutritious meals each year. TAFB is a 501(c)3 organization governed by a Board of 20 Directors, each of whom was selected for their valued perspective and competencies to support the organization’s talent. TAFB is in solid financial condition, consistently operating in the black with no long-term debt. Revenues for FY2023 totaled over $128 million ($96 million of which was the value of donated food and commodities). The organization employs 125 staff and is dependent upon and grateful for the more than 12,000 volunteers, who donated 75,359 hours to support the mission in FY 2022. TAFB’s administration and main campus distribution center are conveniently located near downtown Fort Worth, 7th Street, and the Cultural District. It also has satellite facilities in Denton (TAFB North) and Parker County (TAFB West). The Opportunity

The Director, Grant Strategy will oversee the organization's grants portfolio, including researching and writing corporate, foundation, and government proposals, ensuring compliance with requirements, and managing grant execution. This role will work across departments to gather information for proposals, ensure compliance with grant agreements, and develop reports. Serving as a key communicator within and for the organization, the Director will convey the organization's needs and impact to donors. The selected candidate will join an organization that has experienced tremendous growth, doubling its annual revenue since FY 2020, and continues to evolve to become more efficient and effective at ending hunger. As such, the selected candidate will thrive in an environment of innovation and growth. Essential Responsibilities

Visionary leadership, with strong delegation, decision-making, conflict resolution and motivation skills. Experience with Team Management, with the ability to set performance expectations, grant budgets and coordinate cross-functional teams to enhance grant submissions and deliverables. Proactively research, identify, and secure funding opportunities from corporate, foundation, and government sources. Utilize self-direction, strategic creativity, and critical thinking to analyze local funding cycles, philanthropic trends, and evolving grant requirements. Take initiative to stay ahead of shifting funding landscapes. Independently lead the full grant process, including the development, drafting, and submission of high-quality proposals to secure substantial funding. Manage all aspects of grant administration, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations risk oversight and maintaining accountability throughout the process. Leads the cross functional Grant Committee, including the agenda, minutes, 3W action plan and follow up. Generate revenue through the submission of compelling grant proposals, ensuring deadlines are met and grants are successfully secured. Drive measurable impact through focused execution. Effectively communicate any conditions associated with the funds and to ensure staff adherence to compliance directives and for proper allocation of grant funding. Monitor, oversee and ensure adherence to grant budgets, tracking expenditures and ensuring that funds are allocated strategically and in alignment with project goals. Lead independently within the External Affairs team, initiating innovative strategies to enhance funding pipelines and service delivery. Prepare detailed post-project reports to track outcomes and drive continuous improvement. Represent the organization confidently at corporate and community events, advocating for funding opportunities and building relationships with potential funders. Foster donor relationships. Perform other duties as assigned. Reporting to the Vice President of Government & External Affairs, the Director, Grant Strategy will join a development and external affairs team of seventeen. This role requires a highly motivated, strategic leader who takes ownership, works independently, and delivers results. What you need to succeed

Bachelor’s degree and six to ten years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and professional experience Knowledge and experience in grant research, proposal writing, local funding cycles and giving trends Demonstrates strong leadership presence by inspiring confidence, building trust, and fostering collaboration at all levels of the organization. Effectively represents the organization in internal and external settings, communicates with clarity, adapts to diverse audiences, models accountability, professionalism and decisiveness, motivating teams toward shared goals. Excellence in speaking, writing, and presenting information Ability to set priorities and complete projects on time Proficient in analyzing and interpreting diverse data and demographic research Integrity and an uncompromising work ethic Compassion for the TAFB mission Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and database software This position works full-time, in office at TAFB’s main campus administration headquarters. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role will be shared in the first stage of the interviewing process.
