The role involves managing and supervising all areas assigned by the Store Manager, learning all phases of Store operations, and, in the Store Manager’s absence, leading the store to ensure company standards are met. Essential Functions

General Operating Requirements:

Lead company best practices, maximize productivity, analyze store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and performance, communicate variances to the Store Manager, ensure proper scheduling of associates to meet objectives, comply with state/local/federal regulations, complete and supervise associate cleaning tasks (including restrooms), accept special leadership assignments, and assist with payroll administration as needed. Organizational Development:

Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and developing non-exempt associates; ensure compliance with Ross personnel policies; assist with associate relations by communicating incidents to the Store Manager or District Manager as needed. Expense Control:

Monitor actual expenditures to stay within budget; control payroll hours as the primary controllable expense and adjust to business trends. Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment:

Prioritize safety, ensure associates understand emergency procedures, adhere to safety policies, and assist in monthly safety meetings. Customer Service:

Treat customers, associates and leaders with respect; demonstrate courtesy and professionalism; supervise and coach associates in customer service and merchandise presentation across registers, service desk, fitting rooms and sales floor. Personal and Store Brand:

Represent the company brand, maintain professional appearance per dress code, ensure a clean and easy-to-shop environment, and manage housekeeping with contracted maintenance. Merchandise Processing & In-Store Marketing:

Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns meet standards; present merchandise according to guidelines; manage merchandise processing to the floor per timelines. Loss Prevention:

Assist with training on LP awareness and store shortage goals; safeguard confidential information and assets; participate in inventory processes and monitor policy adherence. Competencies:

Manages work processes, business acumen, planning and prioritization, talent development, collaboration, leadership by example, effective communication, accountability and execution. Qualifications and Skills

Two or more years of store or assistant store manager experience in retail. Ability to supervise, motivate and communicate positively with associates at all levels. Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and complete tasks with independent judgment. Fluency in English; ability to work evenings and weekends; basic math proficiency for retail operations. Physical Requirements

Ability to use store equipment; stand/walk for up to 100% of shift; bend, squat, reach, climb, and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally; operate janitorial equipment and ladders. Supervisory Responsibilities
