Overview
Vice President, Project Development (Geothermal) – Armonk, NY; Brooklyn, NY; Northeast Region (USA). Brightcore Energy provides end-to-end energy efficiency and clean energy measures for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. We develop, implement, fund, and maintain clean energy solutions, ranging from lighting and energy efficiencies to renewable energy such as solar, battery storage, and geothermal. We deliver immediate cost savings and revenue potential with no required capital investment, focused on Building Energy Performance. Summary/Primary Role: This role sits in our Business Development Division. The Vice President of Project Development leads and oversees complex geothermal development projects from early-stage through full contract execution. The position requires business development, stakeholder management, technical engineering knowledge, regulatory expertise, and financial acumen to navigate multifaceted geothermal project development. The role involves direct client engagement, cross-functional team leadership, strategic analysis, and comprehensive project oversight throughout the development process. Oversee multidisciplinary project teams and advise on multiple geothermal projects in varying development stages, adhering to budgets, schedules, and performance standards. Coordinate across internal and external teams to meet project timelines, while maintaining clear and professional communication with the client and key stakeholders. Strategic Communications & Stakeholder Engagement
Develop and oversee comprehensive communication strategies for complex geothermal projects, including client presentations and stakeholder engagement with corporate, institutional, and other entities. Work directly with end-user clients to build and strengthen relationships, understand user needs, and address concerns by proposing mitigation strategies for successful implementation. Clearly communicate the project development process to ensure alignment on milestones and expectations among clients and the team. Proactively engage stakeholders to gauge feedback on development and execution for senior leadership discussion. Maintain ongoing relationships with end-users and stakeholders to stay updated on near-term and long-term portfolio direction. Technical and Financial Analysis
Synthesize information from geological maps, feasibility reports, and engineering analyses to inform development decisions. Provide actionable guidance to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders based on complex geothermal technical information. Articulate project financials to clients, including capital and operating expenses. Understand and act on technical documents including utility incentive programs, grants, and relevant regulations. Business Development, Sales and Revenue Achievement
Articulate Brightcore’s value proposition, build relationships, and develop sales strategies to influence decision-making. Conduct business development activities including proposals, technical presentations, and materials; build relationships with stakeholders. Identify opportunities to leverage stakeholder interactions for strategic partnerships and new pipeline projects. Provide strategies for managing geothermal project pipelines to meet or exceed sales/revenue targets. Participate in senior leadership discussions related to organization priorities and geothermal project pipeline. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with 10–15 years of experience in supervisory, sales, project management, or related fields. Background in renewable energy project development, real estate development, MEP engineering, environmental engineering, construction project management, architecture, or similar. Ability to read and interpret technical, engineering, financial, and regulatory documents, including drilling reports, cost estimates, site plans, and grants. Experience navigating complex approval processes and managing multi-stakeholder projects. Experience with client-facing projects to a schedule and proficiency with project management software, CRM, and collaboration tools. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences; excellent negotiation and conflict resolution abilities. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage a project pipeline to meet targets. Comfort with a dynamic, evolving industry and openness to new working methods and business models. Strategic, forward-looking thinker with the ability to step back from day-to-day tasks. Proven leadership experience involving engagement with senior or executive leadership. Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibility. Expected Hours of Work
An employee must work a minimum of thirty (30) hours per week to maintain full-time status for benefits, with an average of forty (40) hours and overtime as scheduled. The base compensation and benefits are subject to adjustment based on location, experience, and internal equity. Base salary range: $180,000–$200,000 with an uncapped quarterly commission structure. Travel up to 25% within the Northeast. Hybrid work setting with 3+ days per week in the office. Physical Demands
