Overview
Director, Project Development (Geothermal) – Armonk, NY; Brooklyn, NY; Northeast Region (USA). Brightcore Energy provides end-to-end energy efficiency and clean energy measures to commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. We aim to deliver immediate cost savings and revenue potential without capital investment and to advance Building Energy Performance. Summary / Primary Role
This role sits in our Business Development division. It focuses on leading complex geothermal development projects from early-stage through full project contract execution. The role requires business development, stakeholder management, technical engineering knowledge, regulatory expertise, and financial acumen to navigate geothermal project development. The position involves direct client engagement, cross-functional team leadership, and comprehensive project oversight throughout the development process. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with resourcefulness and a relentless drive to push projects forward in a competitive business landscape. (Management may amend or assign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time) Responsibilities
Lead multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple geothermal projects in varying development stages, adhere to budgets, schedules, and performance standards. Coordinate across internal and external teams to meet project timelines, while maintaining clear and professional communication with the client and key stakeholders throughout. Develop and execute comprehensive and tailored communication strategies for complex geothermal projects, including client presentations and stakeholder engagement with corporate, institutional and other entities. Work directly with end-user clients and project beneficiaries to actively build and/or strengthen direct relationships, understand user needs, and address concerns by proposing mitigation strategies for successful implementation. Clearly communicate the project development process from the start and at milestones, ensuring the client understands the process and is aligned with the team on expectations. Synthesize information from geological maps, feasibility reports, and engineering analyses to make informed development decisions. Translate complex geothermal technical information into actionable guidance for internal teams, clients, and key stakeholders. Develop and articulate project financials to clients including capital and operating expenses. Understand and act on technical documents including utility incentive programs, grants, and relevant regulations. Articulate Brightcore’s value proposition, build rapport, and develop and implement sales strategies to influence stakeholders’ decisions. Conduct business development activities including proposal writing, technical presentations, and relationship building. Identify opportunities for leveraging stakeholder interactions to foster strategic partnerships and bring in new pipeline projects. Manage geothermal project pipeline to meet or exceed sales and/or revenue targets. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of work experience in client-facing roles in energy efficiency and renewable energy. Minimum Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or related field. Minimum 5 years in supervisory, sales, project management, project implementation, or similar experience. Background in or experience with renewable energy project development, real estate development, MEP engineering, environmental engineering, construction project management, architecture, or a related field. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical, engineering, financial, and regulatory documents. Demonstrated expertise in navigating complex approval processes and managing projects with multiple stakeholders, technical disciplines, and regulatory requirements. Experience with managing client-facing projects to a schedule and proficiency with project management software and CRM tools. Strong interpersonal and presentation abilities for technical and non-technical audiences; excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills; demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams. Ability to manage a pipeline of projects to meet or exceed sales and/or revenue targets. Comfort with a dynamic industry, changing regulations, and emerging technologies; resourceful, proactive, independent, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment. Open-minded to experiment with new ways of working and business models; strategic thinker with the ability to see the bigger picture. Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibility. Expected Hours of Work
An employee must work a minimum of thirty (30) hours each week to maintain full-time status for benefits purposes; however, the role typically requires an average of forty (40) hours with overtime as scheduled. Brightcore offers a comprehensive benefits package and a base salary range of $150,000-$180,000 with an uncapped quarterly commission structure. Travel Requirements
Travel up to 25% within the Northeast region. Office setting; hybrid work model (3+ days in office per week). Physical Demands
