Our client is a dynamic real estate firm with a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, and mixed-use properties. The company is experiencing rapid growth and is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented

Controller

to lead accounting operations, strengthen internal controls, and drive financial accuracy to support business decision-making. Key Responsibilities Oversee all general ledger activity, monthly/quarterly/year-end close, and preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Manage property-level and consolidated reporting, including cash flow, variance analysis, and investor reporting packages. Coordinate external audits, tax compliance, and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors. Lead day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations. Ensure accurate accounting for property acquisitions, dispositions, lease agreements, and development projects. Implement and monitor robust internal controls across multiple entities and properties. Partner with senior management to develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts. Provide variance analysis and insights to support operational and strategic decisions. Track capital expenditure and development project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial plans. Optimize accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or similar) and ensure data integrity across platforms. Enhance efficiency through process improvements, automation, and standardization of reporting. Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures that scale with company growth. Manage, coach, and develop accounting staff to ensure accuracy, accountability, and career growth. Foster a culture of collaboration and high performance within the finance function. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred. 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3–5 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role. Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting practices (development, leasing, property management, REIT structures a plus). Experience with real estate accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage, JD Edwards, or NetSuite). Demonstrated success in managing multi-entity consolidations and complex real estate transactions. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels. Ideal Candidate Profile Proven track record in
