Overview

You will serve as a Quality Control Inspector/Site Quality Lead in the Quality Control Division, Compliance and Quality Department of Fleet Readiness Center Southwest. Location: Kaneohe, HI. Salary: $92,520 to $120,282 per year. Pay scale & grade: GS 12. Appointment type: Permanent. Work schedule: Full-time. Travel: Occasional travel. Relocation: Yes – relocation incentives may be authorized. Telework eligible: Yes—as determined by agency policy. Open to applications from 09/29/2025 to 10/06/2025. Duties

Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior Quality Control Inspectors (QCIs) and perform certification of quality investigations. Coordinate with customers, external suppliers, and higher authorities on product quality issues, investigation outcomes, and policy interpretations. Brief leadership on critical quality issues and systemic process improvements affecting site programs. Identify, assess, and manage program risks; develop mitigation strategies, contingency plans, and corrective actions to minimize impact on program performance. Review sketches, engineering drawings, data, specifications, and equipment to identify characteristics critical to product acceptability. Conduct inspections and audits of materials, products, processes, and services for conformance to specifications and requirements. Analyze data to detect unsatisfactory trends or weaknesses in the quality or verification program. Requirements

Conditions of employment

Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment and pass E-Verify where applicable. Travel to CONUS/OCONUS and remote/isolated sites may be required; ability to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods. Time-in-grade requirements apply for current federal employees; appointment may be subject to 5 USC 3326 for retired military members within 180 days of retirement. Selective Service registration required for males born after 12-31-1959. Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience should include: Leading development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Quality Management System (QMS) policies and inspection processes across production areas and programs. Using independent judgment to recommend process changes and quality control strategies that reduce defects and mitigate risk. Serving as the site’s senior quality representative during cross-functional root cause analyses, corrective action planning, and high-visibility quality investigations. Primary point of contact for customer complaints in product quality deficiency reports (PQDR/AIDR). Monitoring quality trends and developing proactive risk mitigation strategies. Leading site quality audits and internal compliance assessments. Developing and delivering advanced quality training for QCIs, Production Artisans, and Program Managers. Specialized experience may be demonstrated through federal or equivalent private/public sector roles.
