Reach for the Stars After School Program Whittier City School District school sites: Responsibilities
A Group Leader is in charge of a group of 20-23 elementary aged students (K-5th grades). Duties include signing in students, distributing supper, supervising and assisting with activities. On-call as needed depending on availability and site need. Physical Demands
Ability to see and hear for the purpose of observing and regulating student behavior. Stand and walk for long periods of time; occasionally run for brief periods. Cope with stress and emergency situations. Frequently climb stairs; occasionally exert 10-20 pounds of force to move objects. Be able to bend, climb, kneel and balance to assist students as needed. Perceive the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception; provide oral information; operate related equipment; handle and work with various materials and objects. Prolonged exposure to weather elements and noise. Location
Within (9) Elementary and (2) Middle Schools in the Whittier City School District Qualifications
A.A. or 48 college units in a related field, or pass the Group Leader test. Knowledge of behavior management strategies. Previous experience working with school-age children. Good interpersonal skills. TB Test and CPR Certificate required.
