Everest Reinsurance has an opportunity for an Underwriter I to join the Latin America & Caribbean treaty team based in Miami. We are looking for a talented, dynamic, and technical Underwriter to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing energetic team in a fast-paced environment and contribute to its profitable growth. You'll report to the VP Underwriter for the region and will be responsible for the growth, maintenance, support and profitability of our treaty portfolio in a joint effort. You will be responsible for underwriting of P&C and related reinsurance lines throughout the region, including both proportional and non-proportional treaties.

Responsibilities

You will work collaboratively with underwriters on all aspects of rating and processing new and renewal business

Open UWS submissions

File submission documents in EZFlow (filing system)

Review checklist to ensure that all submission documents needed for analysis are complete

Run modeling tools: Catapult (Cat-exposed), initial data entrance for APEX (pricing tool)

Complete the underwriter’s worksheet with the modeling/pricing results

Bind UWS and Catapult – Underwriting systems once a program is written

Quote, analyze, underwrite, service and process new and existing treaty business as per Everest Re’s Underwriting guidelines and lead underwriter instructions. No underwriting authority will be assigned initially, all business subject to referral process

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all internal underwriting systems and models in collaboration with Corporate Underwriting, Pricing Actuaries and Cat Modelers

Responsible for the upkeep of real-time aggregate accumulations

Assist with management, development and strengthening of all members of the Miami Treaty Team in collaboration with Senior Underwriters

Analyze current market trends and target potential clients, brokers, and products while maintaining, building, and improving relationships with existing clients

Collaborate with regional colleagues and internal/external business associates

Provide and promote exceptional level of service to existing and potential clients

Actively market Everest Re products and services to clients, soliciting new business submissions while gathering market intelligence

Adhere to internal and external compliance guidelines as well as file documentation in preparation of audits

Collaborate with underwriting, claims, operations, marketing, and home office to achieve collective team goals

Assist in the production of presentations on a monthly and quarterly basis for Executive Management

Continue developing and updating product and underwriting knowledge

Qualifications

University Degree in insurance, business, or related field preferred

Ideally 2 or more years underwriting experience in P&C Treaty business

Fluent knowledge of Spanish - English

Industry related certification is preferred, such as CPCU, ARe or ACII

Strong research and analytical skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong presentation and negotiation skills

Ability to build solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders across all levels of management

Self-starter and enthusiastic team player with strong business acumen

Good sense of urgency, ability to prioritize and proactively manage responsibilities and tasks

Dominant expertise of Microsoft applications with advanced skills in Excel

Willing and capable of future international business travel

The base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
