Overview
Construction Management Business Class Director (Water Business Group) - HDR; role focuses on national strategic leadership for HDR's CM services in the water infrastructure sector. Reports to the WBG Service Delivery Director. Base pay range: $163,422.00/yr - $324,250.00/yr. Responsibilities
Business Development
Maintain market intelligence regarding industry competition, potential partners, acquisitions and/or new hires. Capture HDR and competition SOQs, proposals, presentations, and scopes of work with associated fees. Ensure all regions maintain CM pursuit target lists and Client Maintenance plans relevant to CM delivery. Support capture planning efforts, pre-proposal visits, qualifications, and proposal preparation to promote a formulaic approach to HDR CM business development and client interaction. Provide marketing support on pursuits to elevate HDR’s selection hit rate. Maintain List of Major CM or PM/CM or OA/CM Projects. Maintain tool kits, related SharePoint sites, and promote best practices/tools across the Business Group. Implement Presentation/Interview training workshops for all Senior Construction Managers.
Project Delivery
Capture/disseminate relevant CM delivery lessons learned as necessary. Ensure use of HDR best practices, procedures, templates and protocol for consistent CM delivery coast to coast. Work with other Business Class Directors on delivery of existing projects and long-term tactical plans for the water construction services program. Provide principal level project management and issue resolution when needed. Track/trend actual project delivery costs against budget and incorporate lessons learned into future scope/fee development. Maintain CM/CI resources and provide CM resource planning across the Business Group. Lead PARR reviews; train additional staff to be Lead Reviewers; attend PARR reviews as needed. Perform project site audits to ensure proper CM protocol, resource presence, and address performance with the Owner. Promote RAKEN Field Reporting App and manage HDR Technical Guidelines; coordinate license renewals and seat distribution for Raken. Promote and administer Newforma Construction Administration (Newforma CA) for workflows and dashboards; coordinate with stakeholders. Serve as the WBG point of contact on CMIS questions. Update and maintain HDR Construction Management Manual, CM Procedures/Forms & Field Checklists; ensure CM access/use across the Business Group.
Construction Management Leadership and Communications
Reinvigorate the CM Practice Community; plan regular CM calls and broadcast wins, lessons learned and information. Collaborate with Field Services Communications Director, Construction Services Director, other CM Directors, SH&E Director, Field Services Client Development Lead, Project Controls Director, and CCC Director of Operations; participate in Field Services Steering Committee. Lead CMAA engagement; represent HDR as a CMAA member and board participant; manage dues, sponsorships, awards nominations, and CCM designation advocacy. Ensure WBG CM staff development; maintain and develop CM training plans, protocols and sessions.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering with 15+ years in managing construction delivery programs for the water infrastructure industry. PE or related professional certifications are desirable. Location flexibility across HDR US offices. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in a related field. Professional Engineering registration or equivalent technical experience. Experience in development and management of diverse teams. Ability to work cooperatively with other Business Class Directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on CM efforts.
