Overview
Construction Management Business Class Director (Water Business Group) at HDR. Role provides strategic national focus to position HDR as a preferred provider for construction services in the water infrastructure industry. Reports to the WBG Service Delivery Director. Business Development Maintain market intelligence regarding industry competition, potential partners, acquisitions and/or new hires. Capture HDR and competition SOQs, proposals, presentations, scopes of work with associated fees. Ensure all regions maintain CM pursuit target lists and Client Maintenance plans related to CM delivery. Support capture planning efforts, preproposal visits, qualifications and proposal preparation to standardize HDR CM business development and client interaction. Provide marketing support on pursuits to elevate HDR’s selection hit rate. Maintain List of Major CM or PM/CM or OA/CM Projects. Maintain toolkit, SharePoint sites, and promote best practices/tools across the Business Group. Implement Presentation/Interview training workshops for all Senior Construction Managers. Project Delivery Capture/disseminate relevant CM delivery lessons learned as necessary. Promote HDR best practices, procedures, templates and protocol for more consistent CM delivery coast to coast. Collaborate with other Business Class Directors on delivery of existing projects and on long-term tactical plans for the water construction services program. Provide principal level project management and issue resolution when needed. Track and trend actual project delivery costs against budget and incorporate lessons learned into future scope/fee development. Maintain CM/CI resources and availability; provide CM resource planning across the Business Group. Lead PARR reviews (for projects entering construction); train staff to be Lead Reviewers; attend reviews as needed. Perform occasional project site audits to ensure proper CM protocol and address performance with the Owner. Promote RAKEN Field Reporting App; update HDR Technical Guidelines; manage annual license renewals, seat distribution, and procurement coordination. Promote and administer Newforma Construction Administration (Newforma CA) for workflows and status dashboards; coordinate with relevant stakeholders. Serve as WBG point of contact on CMIS questions. Update and maintain HDR Construction Management Manual, CM Procedures/Forms & Field Checklists; ensure CM access/use across the Business Group. Construction Management Leadership and Communications Reinvigorate CM Practice Community; plan regular CM Practice Community calls and broadcast wins, lessons learned and information. Collaborate with Field Services Communications Director, Construction Services Director, other CM Business Class Directors, SH&E Director, Field Services Client Development Lead, Project Controls Director, CCC Director of Operations; participate in Field Services Steering Committee. Lead CMAA engagement; represent HDR as a CMAA Member and Board of Directors; coordinate dues, sponsorships, and nominations for national project awards; maintain list of CCM-designated HDR employees and encourage CCM attainment. Ensure WBG CM staff development by maintaining and developing CM training plans, protocols and sessions. Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or Engineering with 15+ years’ experience in managing construction delivery programs for the water infrastructure industry. PE or related professional certifications desirable. Location: This position can be located in any US HDR office. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in related field. Professional Engineering registration and related technical experience. Experience in development and management of diverse teams. Collaborates effectively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on CM efforts.
