The Department of Recreation & Wellbeing provides competitive and recreational opportunities for students, faculty, staff and campus-affiliated community members, including 30 sports clubs and a wide range of recreational activities and equipment. Position Summary

Youth Archery Instructors provide instruction and support to enrolled recreational youth participants in an interim recreational archery program environment. Instructors develop lesson plans for assigned classes, provide feedback to youth participants, and support upkeep of facilities and outdoor spaces to ensure a safe and nurturing environment. Other program-related tasks may be assigned as needed. Application Review Date

PLANNING AND PROGRAMMATIC DEVELOPMENT Assist with check-in and check-out procedures. Look for ways to improve the program and share them with a supervisor. Ensure campers have safe and appropriate equipment, facilities, and supplies. Keep equipment, binder, and supplies in order, well maintained, and in the proper location. Complete and submit paperwork accurately (timesheets, lesson plans, certifications, etc.). Accept feedback and make necessary corrections. PROGRAM INSTRUCTION & FACILITATION Develop youth participants' interest in archery using games to promote learning in a fun environment. Instruct youth in the basics of USAA NTS form to prepare them for potential competition. Help maintain a safe archery range and monitor youth participants to prevent injury. Provide a safe and accepting environment for participants. Assist with equipment setup before classes and takedown after classes. Run organized activities with maximum participation opportunities. Actively engage with all youth participants. MISCELLANEOUS Develop age-appropriate relationships with campers. Demonstrate professional behavior around campers, parents, and staff. Accept constructive feedback and make necessary corrections. Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and sensitivity in all interactions. Required Qualifications

Prior experience with archery; preferably in an athletic, teaching, or leadership role. Ability to exercise independent sound judgment and employ reasoning skills. At least a Level 1 NTS coaching certification. Knowledge of Youth Recreation Programs, program planning, development, structures, classroom management, and youth learning styles. Client service minded, entrepreneurial spirit, and creative thinking skills. Basic skills in computer programs relevant to job duties. Must be able to pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Background Check. Must be able to work effectively across all organizational levels. Current American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric CPR, AED, First-Aid, Epi-Pen + Asthma certification (or agree to completing the course upon hire). Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of campus policies and procedures. High school diploma or equivalent certification. Some college or Associate/Bachelor’s Degree. Salary & Benefits

This is a 9-month, part-time (12 hours/week), contract appointment, not eligible for UC benefits. This is a non-exempt, hourly paid position. The budgeted hourly range is $21.50 to $22.00. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. How to Apply
