Director of Catering Sales

to help us lead and elevate private events to new heights. Position Overview

The

Director of Catering Sales

is responsible for leading all catering and private event sales efforts, from initial inquiry through successful event execution. This role is both

strategic and hands-on , overseeing a dynamic catering team and managing high-profile, high-volume events with professionalism and precision. This individual will drive revenue through creative sales strategies, superior guest service, and close collaboration with our operations team. You will be instrumental in

building client relationships, expanding local outreach , and ensuring every event reflects the elevated experience our guests expect from The Odyssey. Key Responsibilities

Lead all reactive and proactive catering sales efforts

Develop and execute quarterly and monthly sales plans

Build and nurture a strong local client base through proactive outreach, networking, and referrals

Manage and coach the catering sales team to achieve department goals

Respond to inquiries, negotiate contracts, and finalize bookings with professionalism and urgency

Conduct site visits, tastings, and planning meetings with prospective clients

Ensure flawless event execution by communicating detailed BEOs and logistics to operations team

Regularly evaluate pricing strategy and competitor landscape

Forecast sales trends and prepare accurate financial reports for leadership

Deliver and exceed monthly/quarterly booking and revenue goals

Create a motivating environment that supports growth, recognition, and high performance

Resolve client concerns quickly, professionally, and with a solutions-focused mindset

Ensure events align with both client expectations and company profitability goals

Qualifications

Minimum

2 years

experience in a

Director of Catering

or similar leadership role in a high-volume, upscale venue

Minimum

5 years

progressive experience in

catering/event sales

(restaurant, hotel, or catering company)

Experience managing a

catering sales team

Familiarity with

Catering Management Software

Strong financial acumen with proven success in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting

College degree preferred (Hospitality or Business focus a plus)

Outstanding interpersonal, negotiation, and written communication skills

Passion for hospitality, detail-oriented, and creative under pressure

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
