To be considered for this position, you must submit an application and complete the Law Enforcement - Frontline National exam through the National Testing Network by November 6, 2025, and no earlier than one year from the time of application. Select the City of Glendale to share your results with our agency. Candidates for this entry-level position must be currently attending or have graduated from a California POST approved Basic Police Academy. Academy attendees must provide a letter from the academy verifying current enrollment. Academy graduates must provide a copy of an Academy graduation certificate showing proof of graduation within the past year. Essential Functions

This entry-level, non-sworn classification participates in post-academy training. All classifications may perform the following: Ensure Department services are provided with exceptional customer service and the highest ethical standards. Respond to calls for service regarding accidents, emergencies, crimes, threats, altercations and requests for aid. Provide information and assistance to the public. Emphasize a Community-Based Policing philosophy focused on community interaction and collaborative problem solving. Administer first aid to injured persons. Interview, interrogate and record statements from witnesses, suspects and victims. Identify relevant facts and prepare written reports. Apprehend suspects by driving safely at high speeds, chasing on foot, climbing obstacles, subduing suspects, using self-defense and arrest control techniques, and using firearms under appropriate conditions. Enforce traffic laws, direct traffic, issue citations and warnings. Investigate accidents and accident scenes. Investigate matters involving juveniles, reports of child neglect and juvenile delinquency. Refer juveniles to the appropriate authorities. Serve subpoenas, warrants, testify in court, handle evidence, apprehend suspects, and confer with City/District Attorney for case preparation. Ensure duties are performed in a safe, efficient manner. Perform other related duties as assigned or as required. Qualifications & Requirements

Experience None. Education/Training High school graduation or equivalent (State Board certificate, GED, CHSPE, HiSET, or CPP). Academy Attendee: Current enrollment in a California POST Basic Academy. A letter verifying current enrollment must be submitted with the application. Academy Graduate: Must have completed a California POST Basic Academy within 1 year of application. A copy of the completion certificate must be submitted with the application. Licenses & Certifications

Applicants must be of good moral character, with no felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude. Must be at least 21 years old at appointment. WRITTEN EXAM:

Applications will be reviewed to ensure minimum requirements are met. Qualifying applicants will be invited to participate in the selection process. PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST:
