Job Title and Location Fire Life Safety Director
to oversee an Education Facility located in Lincoln Center, Manhattan.
Responsibilities
Position is: Part Time
Work Shift Available: Morning and Afternoon
Workdays Available: Candidates should be flexible Monday - Sunday
Pay Range: $24.55 - $25.55 / hour
Oversee the building's fire safety plan, manage the Fire Command Station, and supervise the fire brigade, floor wardens, deputy floor wardens, and building evacuation supervisors.
Act as liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies.
Ensure that life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional and that floors have fire safety teams (Fire Wardens, Deputy Fire Wardens, Building Evacuation Team).
Conduct fire alarm drills and maintain a written log to identify potential or actual weaknesses in response time or life safety systems and equipment.
Provide clear direction and assistance to clients, visitors, vendors, and employees during normal operations and emergencies.
Assist building security with visitor, vendor, and employee access badge verification to prevent unauthorized access.
Maintain surveillance and reporting of suspicious persons and/or packages.
Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid if required.
Physical and Mental Functions
Stand or walk constantly (up to an entire shift) on various surfaces.
Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift.
Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform duties.
Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds.
Run as needed.
Constant use of hands for reaching/handling/grasping/fingering while using phone and completing reports.
Constant use of eyes to observe, read, interact, and monitor security systems.
Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions (cold, rain, heat).
Constant mental alertness and attention to detail for setting priorities and follow-up.
Qualifications/Requirements Qualified applicants for the Fire Life Safety Director position will meet the minimum requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
At least 18 years old
Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of personnel and the public
Ability to prepare written reports and logs; computer skills may be required
Ability to read and understand operating procedures and instructions
Licensing requirements are subject to state/local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
Background investigation and post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test required
Maintain current active status of all required licenses while on duty
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Flexible to changing environments; adapt well to different situations
Intermediate computer skills to utilize wireless technology at client sites
Able to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality
Neat and professional appearance
Ability to handle both common and crisis situations calmly and efficiently
Read, understand, and clearly speak English; clear speech and hearing abilities required
Ability to work under high-volume conditions at client sites
