What We're Looking For The City of Beverly Hills is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Senior Water System Worker to organize, assign, and review the work of assigned staff engaged in repair and maintenance of water distribution processes; to perform maintenance duties including planning, monitoring, and maintaining the City’s water distribution operations and meter system; and to provide highly responsible technical or maintenance support to assigned supervisor. The incumbent of this position must be a responsible team player, with the ability to learn, interpret and apply relevant procedures and regulations. This individual should have excellent communication skills to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with City staff and the general public to ensure effective customer service. Employees receive 2% of their annual base pay to support their personal wellness. Annual Cost of Living Adjustments:

All MEA employees automatically receive a base salary increase of 4.5% annually, with the next increase scheduled for October 1, 2025. Holidays:

11 paid holidays, plus 2 personal holidays. Accrued Paid Time Off:

80 - 160 hours per year (depending on length of service). Minimum Qualifications Experience and Training Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience : Two years of responsible journey experience similar to Water System Worker II with the City of Beverly Hills. Training : Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

License and Certificate :

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class B driver’s license or out of state equivalent. Possession of a valid State Water Resources Control Board Grade D3 Distribution Operator certificate. Possession of a valid State Water Resources Control Board Grade T2 Water Treatment certificate.

Major Duties EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES -

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Plan, prioritize, and review the work of staff assigned to a variety of water distribution system maintenance duties. Develop schedules and methods to accomplish assignments ensuring work is completed in a timely and efficient manner. Participate in evaluating the activities of staff, recommending improvements and modifications. Provide and coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies. Coordinate activities with contractors and the warehouse department; create traffic control plans. Inspect and participate in the relocation, maintenance, installation, repair or removal of water mains, water services, fire hydrants, water meters, valves and related appurtenances to ensure City’s technical standards are followed; perform safety inspections of vehicles and equipment. May operate construction equipment and various hand and power tools to perform installations, maintenance and repairs to the City’s water distribution system; break and remove asphalt; excavate and backfill trenches; pour and finish concrete; and install cold patch on asphalt. Work with staff to resolve difficult maintenance problems; respond to emergency situations. Requisition and purchase necessary supplies and equipment; complete work orders; assign reports and perform various specialized recordkeeping functions using the asset management system. Evaluate work projects to ensure compliance with local, State and Federal laws, rules and regulations. Contact customers to address and resolve complaints. Respond to emergency situations during and outside of working hours, as required. Assist new or existing staff in learning departmental practices and protocols, methods, and procedures. Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service. Foster an environment that embraces diversity, integrity, trust, and respect. Be an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation, and communication.
