Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Clinician Educator) – Division of General Pediatrics, CHLA. Keck School of Medicine/Audrey Hepburn CARES Center, Los Angeles, California. The University of Southern California (USC) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) are actively recruiting a physician at the faculty rank of Assistant or Associate Professor on the Clinician Educator track who is BE/BC in child abuse pediatrics (or a pediatrician with significant experience/expertise in child abuse pediatrics and the care of children in foster care) to join the CARES Center at CHLA. The CARES Center is a multidisciplinary child protection center focusing on evaluation, treatment, medical follow-up, prevention, advocacy, education and research in child maltreatment and foster care. Responsibilities

Provide in-depth evaluations and follow-up assessments in inpatient and outpatient settings for cases suspicious for child maltreatment. Work in a multidisciplinary setting with various subspecialty services to coordinate medical care and work-ups adhering to guidelines. Provide evaluation and medical care for children and youth in foster care. Participate in training of physicians, hospital staff and community professionals on identification, reporting, treatment and prevention of child maltreatment. Coordinate with Child Protective Services, law enforcement, and the judicial system. Demonstrate leadership to meet the needs of children and families affected by maltreatment. Academic responsibilities may include training medical students, residents and fellows in research related to child maltreatment and/or foster care; participate in quality improvement, peer review and development/enhancement of protocols to improve patient care and safety. Qualifications

MD, DO or equivalent. Completion of an accredited pediatric residency and fellowship in child abuse with Board Certification or Board Eligible is preferred; a pediatrician with significant experience in child abuse pediatrics and foster care may be considered. Eligible to obtain licensure in the State of California. Eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges. Experience in an academic medical center and a desire to incorporate clinical practice into teaching for a variety of learners is preferred. Outstanding communication skills, ability to lead a team, and experience building collaborative partnerships are essential. Appointment and Benefits
