Case Manager - Recovery Support Specialist Crisis Care Counselor - RSS (53914)
We are seeking a Case Manager - Recovery Support Specialist - Crisis Care Counselor to support individuals in recovery from mental health conditions and co-occurring substance use disorders. The organization is a non-profit focused on empowering people to live with dignity and purpose. Overview
Schedule: 6:00am - 6:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and every other Friday. The role involves crisis intervention, mobile crisis response, and coordination with a team of service providers to promote community stabilization. Responsibilities
Support clients using lived experience with mental health diagnosis to decrease dysfunction, increase community functioning, and assist in recovery goals. Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, emotional support, and suicide risk assessment to callers via AID’s 24/7 crisis line. Manage and assess incoming Mobile Crisis referrals from 988, local police departments, and other community services via phone. Provide in-person Mobile Crisis Response in Kendall and Southern Kane County when a crisis cannot be de-escalated over the phone. Collaborate with a team of service providers to meet client needs and promote community stabilization. Maintain documentation for crisis interventions conducted on the phone and in the community. Essential Job Responsibilities
Attend scheduled work hours and be flexible to meet client and program needs as directed. Respond to calls during shift and after dispatch; provide Crisis Line Coverage when not in Mobile Response. Deliver effective individual crisis counseling and crisis intervention assessments. Consult with family members, case managers, and other service providers as appropriate. Use intervention tactics to reduce symptoms and provide independent program coverage when scheduled or in emergencies. Complete documentation to meet program funder requirements and administrative rules; ensure timely billing and logs (MCRT Daily logs, Dispatch logs, 988 follow-up, and iCarol contact logs). Participate in clinical supervision at least monthly and meet monthly productivity standards where applicable. Complete assessments including crisis intervention and suicide assessment and document according to Rule 132 standards. Develop and implement crisis safety plans and follow up with clients and providers as identified. Provide case management follow-up to support linkage to services and maintain records in accordance with regulatory requirements. Communicate effectively with agency staff, providers, families, and other stakeholders; navigate systems to open clients to programming and document accordingly. Recognize emergencies and take appropriate action; document incidents per procedure. Provide consultation to other AID staff to assist in managing crisis situations for agency clients. Additional Responsibilities
Manage schedule to complete duties on time and be available after hours as needed; arrive on time for shifts and trainings. Maintain payroll and submit PTO requests per policy; notify management of any attendance issues. Coordinate services across financial, legal, advocacy, and medical needs; provide transportation if necessary. Acquire and maintain required certifications (First Aid, CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, OIG Rule 50, Infection Control, etc.) and participate in trainings as assigned. Participate in agency committees, events, and fundraisers; maintain professional relationships with coworkers and partners. Support client wellness through coaching, counseling, and information/referral services; communicate with service delivery partners to achieve client wellness goals; promote diversity and maintain a team approach. Seek cross-agency and external trainings to enhance clinical skills and provide crisis consultation to staff. Maintain personal wellbeing to ensure performance and professional judgment. Education
High School or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in a human services field preferred Bilingual (Spanish) preferred Licenses/Certifications
CRSS (Certified Recovery Support Specialist)
certification preferred, or certification requirements should be met within one year of hire and maintained throughout employment. Experience
Some mental health experience preferred; candidate must be in recovery from mental health illness or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder. Other Requirements
Physical: ability to communicate in-person, on the phone, and in group settings; frequent standing and walking; ability to provide services in clients’ homes and in the community; ability to drive and work overnight if required. Equipment: standard office equipment; travel to community settings Flexibility to work evenings/overnights/weekends/rotating holidays; rotating on-call shifts; cover non-scheduled shifts as needed Reliable transportation; maintain automobile liability insurance and valid Illinois driver’s license Ability to work with diverse populations; may be required to work at multiple locations Complete required trainings within 30 days of hire (First Aid, CPR, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, CEUs, etc.) Seniority level
