Overview
Training Services Manager II role within the California Department of Developmental Services. The position oversees the Training Services Section and the department’s training plan, including vendor trainings, internal trainings, mandatory training requirements, and professional development. The section manages the department’s Learning Management System (LMS) and is expanding leadership development training and LMS utilization. Responsibilities
Oversee the Training Services Section Manager to ensure the training plan and programs meet current and future organizational needs and compliance requirements. Lead the section’s administrative use of the department’s Learning Management System (LMS). Supervise professional staff, review performance, measure project progress, and provide growth opportunities. Develop and implement department training initiatives, including compliance audits, policy development, and workforce planning. Collaborate with training partners and subject matter experts to make phased-in recommendations based on department needs and software/process functionality. Qualifications and Requirements
Knowledge of Learning Management System administration; principles and practices of employee supervision and development; and project management experience with workgroup facilitation, deadline monitoring, and metrics setting. Ability to identify training needs, develop training classes using adult learning methodologies, and evaluate training effectiveness; analyze data and complex situations to adopt effective courses of action. Ability to present data-supported recommendations aligned with the department’s strategic direction. Working Conditions and Details
Hybrid in-office/telework position; reporting requirements may change. Incumbent must live and work in California. Telework agreements can be modified or canceled. All commute expenses are the candidate’s responsibility. Open office environment; up to 80% computer work; occasional overnight travel within California.
