Overview
We are seeking a
Manager of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
for a well-established real estate management firm based in Manhasset, NY. The Manager will oversee all A/P and A/R functions for a portfolio of more than
66 residential and commercial properties , while leading a small accounting team. This role requires hands-on technical expertise and proven leadership skills, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. Compensation & Schedule
Base pay range:
$90,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr Schedule:
Full-Time, On-Site | Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (35-hour workweek) Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff to maintain high performance and accuracy. Oversee all accounts payable and accounts receivable operations across the real estate portfolio. Conduct staff performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching. Manage administrative tasks including tenant correspondence and monthly accounting calendars.
Accounts Receivable
Prepare and review month-end reports for ownership and management. Process and reconcile tenant payments, rent bills, and monthly closings. Oversee CAM (Common Area Maintenance) and Real Estate Tax billings. Abstract and enter leases for new acquisitions and ensure tenant information is accurate. Ensure compliance with NYC rent regulations. Manage security deposit reconciliations, online rent portal transactions, and late fee adjustments. Act as a liaison with outside accountants.
Accounts Payable
Manage weekly and monthly check runs. Process corporate and sales tax payments and ensure compliance with filing deadlines. Track outstanding checks and process stop payments when needed. Assist with vendor transfers, contracts, and utility account set-ups. Partner with external accountants for audits, reports, and filings.
Regulatory & Compliance
Complete and submit annual filings such as RPIE, NJ I&E, and storefront registries. Maintain accurate, organized, and compliant financial documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 5 years of supervisory/management experience
leading an accounting or finance team (required). 5+ years of experience
in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable within real estate or property management. Strong knowledge of lease abstraction, billing processes, and tenant ledger management. Proficiency in
Excel, Word, and property management software
such as Yardi, MRI, MDS, or BJ Murray. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines consistently. Dependable, reliable, and committed to long-term growth. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on financial accuracy. Comfortable working independently while managing a team.
