The People Operations Business Partner contributes to company performance by providing tactical and strategic consulting on people and organization development strategies in support of business objectives. This role performs HR-related duties at the professional level while supporting more than one business unit. Responsibilities include: talent acquisition; employee relations consultation; policy interpretation and application; union contract consultation; performance and compensation management consultation; and talent management consultation. Additional responsibilities may include organizational design; employee development initiatives and training. Location: hybrid role open to the Greater Denver Metro area. Requires 1-2 days on-site per week with the remainder remote; Monday–Friday, standard business hours. Pay Range & Benefits: $78,000 - $98,000/year
Responsibilities and Duties
Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units. Develops partnerships to support achieving business objectives within the assigned employee populations. Consults with line management, providing HR guidance and appropriate consultation and recommendations. Analyzes trends and metrics with the HR team to develop solutions, programs, and policies. Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues; conducts investigations; maintains documentation. Coaches managers and coordinates unemployment hearings, providing documentation for the hearing officer as needed. Maintains knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees; reduces legal risks and ensures regulatory compliance. Interprets and guides line managers on HR policies, procedures, and contracts. Ensures credentialing for new hires, promotions, and transfers and offers. Provides day-to-day performance management guidance (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). Works with management and employees to improve work relationships, morale, productivity, and retention. Delivers HR initiatives across workforce planning, restructuring, resourcing, talent management, pay and reward, employee relations, engagement, performance management, and succession planning. Informs stakeholders on changes such as staff changes, restructures, and reorganizations. Oversees projects with third-party providers to meet business needs, standards, and timelines. Develops and maintains relations with the recognized union and supports negotiations where necessary. Supports the Vice President, People Operations in delivering the HR strategy. Monitors HR activity to ensure compliance with the collective bargaining agreement; addresses continuity issues. Identifies training needs for business units and individual coaching; participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs. Performs other related duties as assigned. Maintains a trauma-informed environment of wellbeing.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, management, business, project management, or related field. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP credential, or PHR/SPHR preferred. Minimum of 6 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues. Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), preferably UltiPro or UKG. Working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, including full-cycle talent acquisition, compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and employment laws.
