The Workers’ Compensation and Leave Consultant will serve as the agency’s subject matter expert, providing advanced guidance, training, and technical support to MDVA HR staff, managers, and leadership on workers’ compensation and leaves. This role will: administer workers’ compensation and FMLA in coordination with ADA, military leave, and other leave programs; provide leadership, consultation, and coordination for workers’ compensation and OSHA recordkeeping; and ensure compliance and effective administration across MDVA. Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of experience directing the administration and compliance oversight of workers’ compensation and FMLA processes, ensuring timely, equitable, and legally sound application across the organization Experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with employment laws including ADA, FMLA, USSERA/Military Leave, and unpaid leave Experience ensuring OSHA recordkeeping and reporting compliance, including injury/illness logs, reports, and deadlines Technology proficiency for programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe (PDFs), Teams, HRIS, iRisk or other claims systems Presentation skills to train or consult with employees, managers, and supervisors on workers’ compensation, FMLA, and related leaves Knowledge of workers’ compensation statutes, rules, and regulations Knowledge of ADA and its integration with FMLA and workers’ compensation Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing complex or litigated workers’ compensation cases with attorneys, risk management, or medical professionals Experience administering FMLA cases with complex or overlapping leave scenarios involving ADA and workers’ compensation Experience in a unionized/public sector environment with ability to interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements and compensation plans Experience with Paid Parental Leave Experience with Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGDPA) Additional Requirements
