Associate General Counsel
to provide legal support for the Firm’s Litigation group, specifically on the Practice Protection Team. This role offers the opportunity to work with the Firm’s professionals on civil litigation matters and regulatory investigations. Responsibilities
Provide counsel on actual and threatened civil litigation where the Firm is a party, or in regulatory investigations or subpoenas where the Firm is involved. Represent KPMG and its professionals in civil litigation proceedings and regulatory matters; advise Firm leaders on issues arising in those matters. Develop, implement and manage strategies to defend litigation claims and regulatory investigations toward cost-effective resolutions. Supervise and collaborate with outside counsel and OGC teammates to deliver high-quality legal representation. Report to and consult with the Vice Chair for Legal, Risk Management and Compliance/General Counsel, the National Managing Principal for Legal and Regulatory, and the Deputy General Counsel for Litigation and Investigations on litigation and regulatory issues. Develop financial projections and ensure cost-effective management of matters. Qualifications
Minimum fifteen years of experience in complex civil litigation and regulatory investigations, from a top law firm, in-house department, or at a regulator (e.g., SEC, PCAOB, DOJ). Experience involving accounting and auditing issues is strongly preferred. JD or LLM from an accredited law school; active bar membership in the U.S. and in the state of the office location. Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously with strong time management, strategic thinking, and high ethical standards. Strong analytical, writing, oral advocacy, interpersonal, client counseling skills, and a presence with senior leadership. Demonstrated experience leading teams of legal professionals; experience supervising outside counsel is a plus but not required. Proven collaboration and client-service orientation; ability to build cross-functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Salaries are determined based on factors such as experience and location.
