In this pivotal role, you will help shape and expand dual enrollment and early college high school programs that prepare students for success beyond graduation. By building strong partnerships with school districts, colleges, and community organizations, you will help open doors to higher education-especially for students who might not otherwise see college in their future.
REPORTS TO:
Deputy Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid NYS teaching certification required. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in K-12 or higher education. Deep understandingof dual enrollment, early college high school models, college admissions processes, and college transition processes. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills,with an entrepreneurial spirit. Visionary mindset with the ability to see beyond current models, anticipate future opportunities, and inspire innovation in early college access.
WORK YEAR : 10 Month Position.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Early College Access Specialist will play a critical role in expanding access to early college experiences for high school students across the region. This position will work collaboratively with school districts, colleges, and community partners to develop, promote, and support early college high school programs, dual enrollment opportunities, and college transition services. The specialist will provide leadership in program design, student outreach, and implementation to ensure equitable access and successful outcomes for all students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Development & Coordination:
Design and support the implementation of early college and dual enrollment programs in partnership with school districts and postsecondary institutions. Coordinate logistics for program delivery, including course scheduling, instructor support, and student eligibility. Support, develop and/or maintain articulation agreements with colleges and universities. Student Access & Support:
Collaborate with school counselors and administrators to identify and recruit eligible students. Provide information sessions, workshops, and one-on-one support to students and families about early college opportunities. Support students in completing college applications, financial aid forms (e.g., FAFSA), and enrollment paperwork. Data Monitoring & Evaluation:
Track participation, academic progress, and outcomes of early college students. Provide regular reports and data analysis to relevant stakeholders. Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on student outcomes and feedback. Partnership & Collaboration:
Serve as liaison between K-12 districts and higher education partners. Facilitate advisory committees or regional working groups focused on early college access. Stay informed about state and national policy developments related to college readiness and dual credit. Professional Learning & Capacity Building:
Provide training and technical assistance to district staff and counselors on early college program structures and policies. Organize professional development opportunities related to college access and readiness.
