Grade Level (for internal use): 12 About the Role: The Dow Jones Commercial Systems group develops and maintains cutting-edge financial applications. The team is dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions for the financial services industry. As a Software Engineer, you will collaborate with engineers to create scalable and maintainable systems that drive business success. Our Commercial Systems team builds financial technology to help businesses make better decisions. We are a group of experienced engineers who solve tough problems, learn from each other, and focus on building software that works well and lasts while supporting each other’s growth. Responsibilities and Impact
Lead the design and development of scalable full-stack applications using ReactJS, Node.js, and Java Spring Boot. Architect robust, high-performance solutions from scratch with maintainable system design. Develop responsive user interfaces with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. Build and maintain backend services with Node.js frameworks (Nest.js/Express/Fastify) and Java Spring Boot, integrating databases and messaging queues. Implement enhanced search capabilities using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch. Deploy and manage applications in AWS cloud environments. Design RESTful APIs and microservices for frontend-backend integration. Develop CI/CD pipelines for JavaScript and Java applications, focusing on automation. Utilize Git for collaborative development. Conduct comprehensive testing to ensure software quality. Solve complex problems collaboratively and independently. Communicate effectively with stakeholders and adapt to changing technology stacks. Stay updated with financial services industry trends. Compensation/Benefits Information:
This section is applicable to US candidates. The anticipated base salary range is $120,000 to $190,000, with final base salary based on location, experience, and certifications. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan. Basic Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
10+ years of proven hands-on experience as a Full Stack Developer with a strong portfolio of projects.
Strong system design and architecture skills.
Expertise in React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
Proficiency in Node.js and Java Spring Boot, with experience in PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases.
Understanding of AWS cloud services and cloud deployments.
Familiarity with RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
Strong testing and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Additional Preferred Qualifications: Experience with financial applications, trading systems, or market data platforms.
Familiarity with caching strategies, messaging queues, and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
