The Project Management Department of the Operations Planning & Construction Management Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available.
JOB FUNCTION
Responsible for planning, organizing, and managing scope, schedule, and costs for Energy Delivery projects and programs requiring complex regulatory approvals, land/Right-of-Way acquisition, public relations management, or cross-functional/multilevel (internal) management from conceptualization/inception through budgeting, design, approval, procurement, construction, placement in operation, and project closing. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans, organizes, and manages all project and/or program tasks associated with scoping, budgeting, design, approval, procurement, construction, placement in operation, and closing of projects. Serves as the focal point for all project/program matters and is responsible for meeting all project-related objectives. Develops necessary strategies required to meet project and/or program goals. Develops and maintains project and/or program schedules. Prepares and presents project and/or program progress and cost reports internally and externally as required. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced knowledge of project management principles, and engineering and construction practices in the transmission and distribution and/or generation fields. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from a nationally recognized organization such as the Project Management Institute (PMI), a plus. Working knowledge of personal computers and related software applications such as MS Project, UI Planner, Ellipse/DARS, Microsoft Word, Excel, SAP etc. Knowledge of LEAN continuous improvement principles and best practices to achieve operational excellence. SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Excellent written, oral and presentation skills. Strong interpersonal skills to direct, influence, motivate and persuade various groups or individuals. Ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive issues while using tact, courtesy, and discretion. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Several (3-5 years) experience as a project manager, construction manager, designer, engineer, or in a project support position that involved hands on experience with small to medium scale projects, preferably within the electric utility industry. Experience with the regulatory, social, public affairs (neighborhood boards, community groups, government agencies, political leaders, media, etc.) processes involved with land use issues.
